You Were Loved....... In Memory of Whitney Houston

Today's blog is a special one, and one i never thought i would have to write for a long time. 
I remember vividly where i was when Princess Diana died, i remember vividly 9/11, even the death of Michael Jackson..... Yesterday, the day that Whitney Houston left our world, to begin her journey on her path to heaven, will stand out and join those sacred, terrible, and deeply moving occasions.

At 6:46, I turned on the BBC news, which began taken interviews from America, about her passing. I cannot articulate the mixed emotions that was invoked by such a disturbing, shocking and unbelievable headline, that Whitney Houston had died. For me personally like so many others, her music was not just rhythm and lyrics thrown together aiming for the craved after number spot. It was a song crafted with The BEST voice known to mankind, enthused with a passion for the industry and dedication to her fans that allowed Whitney, the success and the iconic status she deserved. Not only did her music touch and move me, but in my hour of need, at a very young age, her voice was my shinning and guiding light, that anchored me through those very tough times. For that i will be eternally grateful for. However it wasn't just her music, she was a beautiful human being superficially and internally. From publicly being a pioneer through the days of the apartheid movement to singing for American troops, a true philanthropist at heart. Intelligent, funny, and eyes that sent you into a trance of  her beauty and mysticism. Her tall, elegant and statuesque physique that still shocks me to this day... just reinforces that evidently she was the complete package.

As we are all aware, despite her godly voice and her legendary demeanour, she was only human and did have a well publicised trouble. I will not be focusing on that at all, we all, each and everyone one of us have our own demons and our own troubles to deal with, hers however were privy to the entire world, and i don't think anyone has the right to judge.

Instead im going to focus and highlight several videos that increased my love for her vocals, so please enjoy and take a look at some of my favourite Whitney Videos. Some display her epic vocals others are just about the influence of the song, but regardless, please watch.....

This Video displays her effortless vocals on the American National Anthem, and even to this day, not a single person has been able to compare, or invoke the same emotion with the national anthem.

This  is a long video that has a medley of songs, the sound quality isn't very good, but have a listen to her version of "And I'm telling you" as much as i love Jennifer Hudson, Whitneys version is sung, and sung beautifully, and doesn't have the stereotypical shouting that comes with this song.  At 2:05 she begins singing the song.

The Title of todays blog is also the next song above to listen to, at at time when Whitney's vocals weren't as strong but regardless a good song, and an appropriate title for this tribute.

This has to be my all time favourite whitney houston song, i love them all but this is just amazing live and studio versions.

On the 9th August  1963 a legend was born, and unfortunately on the 12th February 2012 we had to bid farewell to the that legend. This is not good bye because her music and her legacy will live on !!! lets keep the spirit of Whitney alive......

The Greatest Love of All

Hey All :)

Hope you're all well and are having a lovely day, hopefully the sun will be where you are today as it really has made my day beautiful lol

Just a quick blog today, following the same theme as Million Dollar Bill, Love ha!!!

(not an indication of frustration or my relationship desire, by any means hahaha ;) )

But on the 30th July 2011, my brother is getting married to his actual soul mate Sarah, I’m beyond excited and nervous for them both, I also play an active role within the speeches and shall be doing a reading for them... why I don’t know as my voice is the vocal equivalent to nails being dragged down a blackboard (!) but just like anyone who knows me, they know I will bring class, flair and an air of sophistication to the ceremony (!) a bit like if Katie Price had been invited to the Royal Wedding, clearly !! she would have shown because of her aristocratic air and oozing class (!)

-----For those of you who are insanely redundant the '(!)' marks are clear indications of me making a joke and or being sarcastic, just FYI.------

Going back to my original point, I’m very excited, and the other evening me my brother and a few others, went to the tailor to be measured and fitted for our suits, and the tailor began measuring my inside leg, (which by the way he did use a cupping motion, which was not only a surprise but also surprisingly comforting hahaha, I really didn’t know quite where to look) but as he did my rather cheeky 6 year old niece thought it would be hilarious to "whisper" from the other side of the room

“Uncle Adam!!! He's trying to touch your willy !!! he is! he is ! he's trying to touch your willy" now .... with hindsight.....I can laugh, but at the time sheer mortification came all over me, I tried to disregard it as any self-respecting person would, naturally. That was until she came right up to me, tapped my elbow and within ear-shot of the tailor, said once again,

"My god, he isn’t stopping, he's still trying to touch your willy" ........ not even I could suppress my laugh any longer. It also didn't help that after doing this he measured my waist, commented on 'what a small waist you have Adam' and rather off-puttingly finished the sentence with a wink....... needless to say I may a sharpe exit hahaha.

So 2 weeks from Saturday, I shall be in The Vale, I have attempted to launch my blog into the 21st Century and supply a photograph.... don’t you just love the technological element (!) ... but I shall apologise beforehand if it doesn't go to plan.

But I’m calling this blog The Greatest Love of All, because that’s precisely what I’ve spoken about, the love of family, both brotherly, and that I have for my niece. The love that Nathan and Sarah have, and because just like my other blog titles it’s the most appropriate Whitney Houston Song.

Also i still am loving Beyonce's new Album '4'... if you havent had a listen do !! then buy it :)


Don't forget your Ask Adam Questions :) I've yet to have any lol which is extremely productive, but granted that i actually recieve a response i will be answering a question in the next blog :D !!!! Fingers crossed

           Hey, How are we all?? i do hope your well. It has been a shocking amount of time since i last blogged, and unfortunately i cannot blame my uni exams, or my extra shifts at work, or the fact there hasnt been enough to talk about, i have just been incredibly lazy, so i do apologise profusely. Hi my name is Adam, and uh..... I'm a sloth!!! there i admitted.... the first step has been taken... (JK)



             Ok, lets quickly  address this blogs Currents. Beyonce on the 28th June released her latest album '4', i am an avid Beyonce fan, and have been pinning for this album for an incredibly long time, so when i first heard the album i was a tad disappointed, because superficially the album doesnt invoke the sunniest disposition with some slightly depressing songs. However i persevered and i genuinely love the album, my favourite songs are 'I Was Here' written by the Amazing !!! Diane Warren, if you dont know her, you will know her songs please google her !!! she is a legend in her own right !!! 'Start Over' is just an amazing song that i have just instantly connected with, and her vocals are just amazing. But after listening to the album for the 3rd or fourth time, i took a step back and just appreciated the 'artistic freedom' that Beyonce has strived to achieve, and if you listen to it, it obliterates the commercial money driven auto-tuned tripe that the likes of Gaga and Rihanna seem to churn out, (v sorry by the way i am a fan but im speaking ..... the truth lol). But the reason she is my celeb of the blog is simply because of her undying work ethic and her astounding humility, in her MTV documentary "The Year of 4", it really is conveyed, and even though it is an extremely good marketing tool, used to promote brand Beyonce, i do genuinely believe she is a beautiful humanbeing with just, THE greatest of morals and ethics.

               Since i last blogged, Starbucks have launched a huge marketing push for their freshly brewed Frappacino's which FYI, do taste alot better (not that i ever complained before) but i have discovered this weeks blog beverage..... try it !!! its like a nutty oasis for a drought ridden tongue lol .... never quite thought my tongue would ever desire nuts, but i suppose theres a first for everything lol (JK)


               Stealing the Catchphrase from Joan Rivers...... Can We Talk....... because i have a serious issue that i want to blog about lol ....( i will try to cage my sarcasm and wit for this section... hopefully) ... Love. Recently, (and might i add for the first time ever lol) i have been subject to several types of relationship. Predominantly linked to unrequited love, my own relationship included, and it got me thinking, especially because of the incredibly love driven album from Beyonce, and her seemingly flawless relationship with Jay-Z ..... what does it take to find THE ONE, is there such a phenomenon or is it just that, a phase created by our cinematic counterparts that have made the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts very rich and famous indeed, and why do women and also men, fantasize and desire it so much. And even though i cannot answer this question, i would like to use my relationship expertise (my crummy life so far ;) ) to help you as much as i can ... so i put it to you Reader.... Ask Adam ...... i may be able to help. I genuinely would like to plus what harm would it do, i dont know you and you dont know me.... plus you dont have to take the advice :) ----- as long as you dont mind a mention in the blog that is lol (i would also have to insist on you signing an aggreement, not to sue, as even though i am a GURU lol my advice will be honest and... some of you just cant handle the truth lol ;) JK )

A bit about me,

               I am loving the British weather at the moment, i have however made Rudolph redundant, and shall be offering free rides for carrots ..... (and no thats not a euphemism lol ;) ) However i really have not experienced much of the sun, as i have been working around the clock, for the RI Sale... i have enjoyed it because it means ive got to know the good and the bad about a lot of the people i work with, defined them more as people, and also learnt that my extremely chipper mood doesnt last after sleep deprivation, virtually starvation, and lack of sustenance and not a droplet of wine in over two weeks, not even in a sauce !!! lol (not that im a raging alcoholic but a student has needs lol )

So in keeping with the title, whether its the weather, love, starbucks, beyonce or .....(whatever floats your boat really)..... IF IT makes ....you.... FEEL...... like a Million Dollar Bill, say !!!! .... (oooo oh ohohoh ) ..... lol :)

Hey all :)

           I thought id try something different with this post and start THE CURRENTS.... -a list of things that im currently into (obviously). Looking at this weeks list you'd swear i was a teenage girl lol but i can say whole heartedly that im loving it all. For starters, Nicole Scherzinger  and her song, are awesome, its a slightly old song now but everytime i hear it i cannot help but sing along. Plus especially due to her appearance on the X Factor last year i just think she is one of the most amazing looking, and most deserving to do well,  because of her outstanding humility. Plus you cannot deny its catchy as hell lol.
     Jade Goody is a bizarre one because for most of her life i found her nothing but vexatious. However purely because of her evident love and adoration for her children,  the desire she had to give them everything she didn't have and her effort to make more women aware of cervical cancer is the reason i dedicated my Current Celeb to her, rest peacefully :) (btw people please get checked, boy or girl lol)
       I dont think ive told you guys how much of an ambassador i am for Starbucks !!! (where its not just coffee, it's a starbucks lol)
I personally like the coffee,tea and soft drinks available, (obviously otherwise i wouldn't got there) but when you go to Starbucks it should be more than just for a coffee, it should be to spend 4/5 hours talking, having a catch up, getting to know people better and if you feel like, to bang out a 1st class essay. So because of the nice sunny weather we have been having ive been on the Mango Passion Fruit frapps. Perfect to quench your thirst on a warm/humide afternoon:)
       And finally my fav tv programmes at the moment are (above) lol i could not pick between the three of them i think they are all brilliant VD for its amazing suspense and twists to the plot, Brothers and Sisters for pure escapist yet relateable content, and Cougar Town because they promote drinking during the wee hours of the morning/day lol amongst other things :)


     That is it for now im afraid, not alot to mention lol.By god though i feel like my blog has turned into Nick Clegg--- become completely pointless. In saying that my blog has yet to do anything at all so it is more like David Cameron or less the political----Nadine Coyle's solo career.

Step by Step

Hello All, (or none)

I'm still not entirely sure anyone has read or is reading this blog, but Hello if you are.

         To begin, sorry for the delay in continuing the blog, but I'm here now and that's the main thing. It's been quite a busy month hasn't it, im sure not just for me, but almost every student i know has had something to keep them busy. The funny thing is though is that the first month of 2011 has flown by, without a care for those who wanted to try and do more this year, i mean the only thing I've done more of this year (so far) is sleep, especially after the hectic Christmas period. However it was also my Mums Birthday on the 27th, now i love my mum more than life itself, but seriously a birthday so soon after Christmas is a bit like a Chinese all you can eat buffet, after your Christmas Dinner !! you don't want it, it makes you feel sick and just generally drives sin into you. Plus i am one of 5 amazing children with ages ranging from 37-19, so really alot of the good presents had already been given at Christmas. (also a little clue there to the potential age of the mother of me :] )

         I also want to quickly mention that, on Wednesday, as part of a birthday present from one of my mates, i went to see Russell Howard in the CIA in Cardiff. What an amazingly funny guy, and surprisingly good at mocking the welsh accent too lol . But seriously if you get a chance to go and see him, you wont be disappointed in the slightest. I should send the this blog to his agent and demand an advertising fee for that shameless plug lol.  But back to me now :)  i think I've got a crush. It's weird I've had crushes when i was younger and like growing up but ive never really been the type to get them, but a girl in uni has caught my eye. I don't know her name, political standing (which i know what your thinking is the clincher) or anything really other than she works in starbucks and is studying English Lit, and is fit ;) And you guys are the first to know, so count yourself lucky. But i suppose just like everything in life you've got to take it Step by Step.


       A new step i want to take in 2011, is that into a tattoo shop, now i have 2  discreet tattoos already (1 a mistake, and 1 thats tasteful) But this one i want on my bum, (no gay jokes please lol) one of my friends from work had one done on his butt, and its really funny, and 2bh I've always wanted one there, i just went off the idea because i imagined myself at 80 with this awful disfigurement on my backside, (more than likely being wiped by a care nurse lol) (sorry lol)

But now i shall leave you as the social boundaries of reservation and dignity have been not only been blurred but crossed by about half a mile.

And So we Begin...

Hi, and Welcome

Thanks for taking a look. I'm pretty much new to the World of Blogging, but i have been inspired to have a go... hence #TheLifeandTimesofAdam G. So introductions are needed i think, I'm Adam, I'm studying English Literature at University, and i have worked part-time for River Island for almost 4 years and am still going strong. I am one of  five children :4 boys and my little sister too, and I'm the passive aggressive, sarcastic and sometimes extremely dry one. I do hope you appreciate a dry sense of humour because hopefully it will come through, but i do have an awful feeling i will be slightly robotic... so i do apologise before hand.

Ok, so we are coming to the end of 2010 with the New Year looming, and having bid Farewell to Christmas 2010,  i can't help but think: What a year it has been !!! and also where has it gone!!! seriously i am 22 next October !!! it feels like yesterday i was doing my GCSE's lol --- I hate this feeling of getting old even though im still only 21 :S it really does not make sense, but you know your old when you mention to new members of staff about for example Dorian Green from birds of a feather, and they not only have no clue who Dorian Green is but what Birds of a feather is either, that is a FML moment.

Speaking of Christmas, I do hope you all had a really nice day, and have created memories for future Christmases. Despite working a great deal over the Christmas period and not really getting to spend that much time with my family and friends, i did really enjoy it, but once again i did feel slightly old, as for the FIRST TIME EVER !!! in 21 years of living and enjoying Christmas i did'nt wake up at my usual 7 o'clock, but 9 o'clock... i know i need to sort it out !!! but next year i will be more grown up and force myself up at 7 :)

How am i doing so far? im not sure if this is very interesting or not, so far all ive doen is rant about my insecure obsession with getting old and working. But saying that it's my blog and i will rant if i want to :) (JK)

Ok so before i end my very first blog, i would like to dedicate to Molyneuxoxo my River Island buddy who has inspired me to make this blog, i mean if she can do it!!! then i should have no problems (JK) :)
